熊本県津奈木町を拠点に、地域の風景や採取物、人々との関係性を起点としたインスタレーションやメディアアート作品を制作している。
現在は、津奈木町を中心に水俣・芦北地域の海岸や山間部で採取した土や石、不知火海の海水、地域の産品である柑橘などを用いながら、土地に堆積した記憶や痕跡についてのリサーチを続けている。
かつてこの地域では、水俣病によって自然環境や人間関係、記憶の継承に大きな断絶が生まれた。私はそうした歴史を直接表象するのではなく、土地に残された物質の変化や循環、風景の中に潜む時間の層を通して、人間と環境の関係性を再考しようとしている。
作品では、自然素材、青写真、映像、電子機器など複数のメディアを横断しながら、物質そのものが持つ振る舞いや化学変化を重要な要素として扱う。そこでは、この土地の記憶を固定化するのではなく、それらが遠く離れた土地の出来事とも接続していること、そして記憶が時間の中で変質し薄れていくものであることに着目している。
また、中学生を対象とした地域部活動の運営、美術館での実践、リサーチプロジェクトなどにも取り組んでおり、アートを単独の表現行為としてではなく、様々な領域を架橋しながら、人や場所との関係を結び直すための行為として捉えている。

【1.2× life-size social sculpture】
Here, “1.2× life-size” is used as a shorthand to indicate a scale that slightly exceeds everyday human dimensions, rather than a strict numerical measurement.
Based in Tsunagi Town, Kumamoto, I create installations and media art works rooted in local landscapes, collected materials, and relationships with people.
My current research focuses on traces and layers of memory embedded in the land, using materials gathered from the Minamata and Ashikita regions surrounding Tsunagi, such as soil and stones from the coastline and mountains, seawater from the Shiranui Sea, and local citrus fruits.
This region was profoundly affected by Minamata disease, which caused deep ruptures in the natural environment, human relationships, and the transmission of memory. Rather than directly representing this history, I attempt to reconsider the relationship between humans and the environment through transformations and circulations of materials, as well as the layers of time embedded within the landscape.
My works incorporate multiple media including natural materials, cyanotype, video, electronic devices, and chemical reactions, while treating the behaviors and transformations of matter itself as essential elements. Instead of fixing or preserving the memory of a specific place, I am interested in how these memories resonate with events occurring in distant regions, and how memory itself gradually transforms and fades over time.
In recent years, I have also been creating works with kinetic elements, attempting to reveal ever-changing materials and environments within physical space.
Alongside my artistic practice, I organize local art activities for middle school students, engage in museum-based projects, and participate in research initiatives. I view art not as an isolated act of expression, but as a practice that reconnects people and places by bridging multiple fields and disciplines.
